WHAT IS OUR PROJECT ABOUT?
We are trying to protect our waters from the harmful chemicals found in regular household cleaners. When these non-certified cleaners are flushed down toilets, rinsed down sinks, or dumped on the grass outside, they will end up in our waters and that can be very unsafe! The chemicals, such as nitrogen, phosphorus and ammonia are harmful to our environment. Those chemicals are generally used as fertilizers but have been discovered to be great at cleaning any surface in your home. But when those chemicals get into our waters, they can cause problems such as accelerated plant growth. These rapidly growing plants suffocate animals and can completely invade the environment they are growing in.

WHAT's SO BAD ABOUT Regular CLeaners?
Cleaners found in stores like Publix and Walmart are bad because they harm us and our environment. Though most of the chemicals are taken out by our water treatment centers, some of those chemicals are still in the water that you drink. The chemicals that aren't cleaned out will build up and eventually come back and start harming us. After it gets to a certain point, they will harm us and they may even kill future generations of life. Our team is trying to slow or prevent that buildup from happening.
